draft - speech (May 2011)

I've never been the person of type who express the preference about a politician. But I cannot but admit he had many attractive traits as not only a politician but also a human. First of all, I felt admirable to get to know he was a lawyer and became a president, even though he graduated just a high school. At that time he passed a lawyer exam, few people were allowed to pass. After he became a president, some people didn't like his education background. Korean people tend to ignore the person who haven't gotten a university diploma. He assured me the university diploma doesn't matter. Second, his pre-presidential career was focused on human rights advocacy as a lawyer. After he became statesman, he focused on overcoming regionalism in South Korea politics. I admire his courageous lifestyle. He could live well just for his family like ordinary people do. However he tried to change the world by his way, that is the wasy of sacrifice himself. He ran for the National Assembly in the region where everybody thought it was impossible to be elected because people of that region were likely to give a vote for the party he was a memeber of. But he attempted to overcome regionalism and defeated at last. He became to get a nickname, foolish man.  After retiring from his president work, he went back to his hometown. One year and two months after leaving his office, he committed suicide allegedly leaving a suicide note apologizing for "making too many people suffer".
